Getting started with the NCAA Player Database

Player Database is your place to research all 16,000 players that are part of FBS teams. It comes with rich filtering and sorting capabilities to help you quickly homing in on players you are interested in.

You can get to Player Database by clicking on the “People” button in the navigation pane.

By default, the table shown includes all available players. You can use the pagination controls at the bottom of the page to go through the list and also configure how many entries are shown per page:

Filtering and Sorting

There are several ways to filter the list of players:

  • Just type a player’s name or jersey number into the search bar above the list; SumerNCAA will show any names that contain the search string (i.e. “brook” will bring up Tahj Brooks and Jekail Middlebrook) or all players with the jersey number.
  • In addition, you can use the Filter dropdown which gives you access to many more player attributes; you can select several attributes at the same time, for example you can search for “Big Twelve players with 2 years remaining and a grade between 4.5 and 6.0”.
  • You can mark players as Favorites using the Star column and then filter the list accordingly by using the “Favorites only” switch. All other filter/sort selections remain active when using this switch.
  • Finally, the position buttons filter down the list to the respective position or position group. All other filter/sort selections remain active when using these buttons.

To sort the list, you can either use the Sort dropdown (#7) or click any of the columns in the list. Clicking the up/down arrow (showing upon hover-over in the dropdown or in the header of the column used for sorting) will change the sort direction.

The list of players shows college information, measurables, and some biographical information for each player. It also includes Player Value (which is based on WAA) and Total Snaps, i.e. the number of snaps the player has seen in their college career.

To get the full set of metrics per player, just click on their name to open their Player Profile

View Report mode

Alternatively, you can select to view the (potentially sorted and filtered) list as report. In this optimized reading mode, you still have access to all players in the left navigation bar, but the main screen shows the Player Profile. Clicking on a player in the navigation pane brings up their profile; also, using the left/right arrow keys you can quickly scan through the list without the need of individually selecting each player. To return to the list view, click the Database link on the top left or the Close button on the top right.

Note: initially, the report view will only show you the top 50 entries of the list. To see more players scroll to the bottom of the left navigation page and click on “Load more”.

Lists

The Lists tab shows curated lists provided by SumerSports’ team of scouts and coaches. These lists provide additional information for a specific set of players, for example “Key Contributors” among your players. When clicked, the list opens in a table view that offers the same interaction capabilities as the table used for the player database.

Which lists are shown on this page depends on the products you have acquired from SumerSports.
